Treatment

Merishia Massage is a form of sports massage. A normal visit will usually follow a similar routine, as explained below.

Initial assessment: We will look at the horse’s history and current routine. We can also look at the conformation and fit of tack and rugs if it is felt it could be relevant. I will also watch the horse walk and trot to try and see any signs within their movement of where they may be sore.

Massage: The muscles are prepared through gentle strokes, strapping and compression before locating and treating particular stress points or sore points with increasing pressure and stretching of muscles.

Aftercare: I will demonstrate certain techniques or make suggestions which may benefit the recovery and maintenance of your horse.

The first visit will last usually up to 2 hours, and any visit after up to 1 ½ hours.

First treatment cost is £30 with every subsequent treatment being £25. This includes any travel costs within 20 miles of Tonbridge. Visits further than this will incur a charge of 40p a mile.

Veterinary permission must be sought before any treatment can be carried out. If any previously unknown lameness is noticed, I will refer back to the vet before treatment. This will incur a travel charge of £5.
